We are transitioning to enhanced claims processing and provider portal platforms through UnitedHealthcare on Jan. 1, 2024.

WHAT THIS MEANS

The following changes are being implemented.

Claims with dates of service on or after Jan. 1 will process through the UnitedHealthcare claims processing system.

Laptop

The UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal must be used for the following functions, among others, for dates of service on or after Jan. 1.

Accessing and reviewing claims and claims payments

Submitting and managing authorization requests; note that there are changes to some prior authorization requirements for 2024

Verifying eligibility and benefits

Use payer ID 87726 for submitting claims with a 2024 date of service.

Mail Envelope

If a paper claim must be submitted for a 2024 date of service, use the proper mailing address.

Peoples Health Group Medicare Office of Group Benefits only:

EFT ENROLLMENT WITH UNITEDHEALTHCARE CLAIMS SYSTEMS

Any current enrollment in EFT with Peoples Health will not transfer to the UnitedHealthcare claims system.

For claims for Peoples Health patients with 2024 dates of service:

  • Providers with an EFT payment method set up with UnitedHealthcare for non-Peoples Health patients will receive EFT payments through that method.
  • Providers who do not already have an EFT payment method set up with UnitedHealthcare must enroll in EFT with UnitedHealthcare. Visit uhcprovider.com for more information.

Providers have two options to receive payments from UnitedHealthcare for 2024 dates of service:

  • Automated Clearing House (ACH)/Direct deposit: This option is preferred by most practices for its speed and efficiency in depositing claim payments directly into the provider bank accounts. Each payment is issued for the full amount of the claim payment, and there is no charge for the deposit.
  • Virtual card payment (VCP): This option processes as a credit transaction through the same terminal used for patient copays. Each payment is issued for the full amount of the claim payment. However, virtual card transactions are subject to additional terms and conditions, including fees, between the provider and their card service processor.

Note that payments for 2023 dates of service will continue to be paid through Peoples Health systems, using the payment method set up with Peoples Health.
